API / Updates

Since 2019, we have been proactively reporting suspicious IBANs to banks. Our API gives banks, FinTechs and payment service providers direct access to the same data: reported IBANs, the fake shops and fraudulent offers behind them, and the evidence we collected. Test it free of charge for 14 days.

Try the API free for 14 days

  • Full read access to all reported IBANs and the linked entities (fake shops, fraudulent offers) for 14 days, free of charge.
  • No obligation. The trial runs without any service level and ends automatically. Afterwards you have a further 7 days to decide; you can cancel at any time during this period by email.
  • Request access with the form below or by email to [email protected]. You will usually receive your API key within one business day.

Documentation

The API is a RESTful interface that returns JSON. Authentication is done with an API key in the X-API-Key header. Base URL: https://api.iban.hinweishelden.com/v1/

What the API delivers

Every record describes one reported bank account. The API is available in two tiers: Basic and General.

– Basic

  • IBAN and BIC of the reported account.
  • Date of report and timestamps of creation and last change, so you can poll for updates.
  • Report type: fraud (standard) or release (cases later identified as errors).
  • Confidence: black (confirmed fraud) or grey (strong indication, evidence still incomplete).
  • Verification of Payee result for the reported account holder name: match, close_match, no_match, not_possible or not_checked.

– General

Everything in Basic, plus the case details:

  • Name of the payee, e.g. “Peter Franke”.
  • Linked entities: the fake shop or fraudulent offer behind the account, with URL, sources (e.g. a warning thread on auktionshilfe.info) and our comment.
  • Evidence: links to screenshots of checkout pages and invoices associated with the report.

Terms of use

Use of the API, including the free trial, is governed by the API Agreement. In short: the data may be used to warn your own customers and staff, but must not be passed on automatically to third parties, and screenshots and other evidence stay internal.
